Get Your Life Back With Affirmations
By Kate L. Russell
Your mind is a powerful tool. All too often, we use that tool to destroy ourselves. Our mental dialog tells us that we are too fat, that we won't get that job, that we are too tired, failures, unloved and unsuccessful. Turn that tool around and you can create the life of health, wealth and happiness you believed in when you were a child. Affirmations are a simple, proven tool you can use to make those positive changes in your life. Affirmations are positive statements you use repeatedly to create a positive, successful mindset, thereby having a better impact on the people in your life and the way you live.
When you think negatively about yourself, it shows. Other people feel it and respond accordingly. Insecurities and low self-esteem sabotage you on every level. You may be the best person for the job, but your negative self-dialog makes the interview a dismal failure. You may be beautiful and loving, but you keep finding yourself in destructive relationships. Ask yourself why these bad things keep happening to you and they will keep happening to you! Affirmations are a tool you can use to retrain your thoughts to bring good things into your life.
Professional athletes use visualization to see themselves winning. Archers see the arrow hitting the bull's-eye before they shoot. Beauty queens practice their acceptance speech. Successful people know they will eventually win. You can, too. You can talk yourself into being the person you were born to be. You can use affirmations to eliminate your self-destruction. You can build the thought processes you need to motivate yourself to be happy, healthy and successful.
The Law of Attraction states that you bring to yourself the things you think about. Focus on your fears and the things you fear are everywhere. Consider all the things that might go wrong and they do. Tell yourself your situation is hopeless and it is. At the same time, you can use this law to build a life of loving ease and success. You can train your brain to create good things in your life. Tell yourself you can win and you do!
Affirmation statements remind you that you are, you can, and you will bring good things into your life. Affirmation cards are tools you can use to create these positive results. There are several ways you can put these cards to work for yourself and your family. The important thing is to use them several times a day, every day. Whenever you catch yourself having negative thoughts, break out the cards and remind yourself of everything good about you.
The easiest way to use the affirmation cards is to place them throughout your home where you will see them regularly and repeatedly. Say them out loud. Place your affirmations where they will do you the most good. Put your healthy eating card on the refrigerator. Remind yourself of your beautiful smile at the mirror. Financial responsibility can go into your purse or checkbook. You get the idea. Surround yourself with these positive statements about yourself and watch them come to life!
Affirmation cards are a great way to create a positive self-image in your infant or child, as well. Everyone wants their children to grow up feeling good about who they are and what they can accomplish, to know they are beautiful and loved, that they can achieve their dreams, and that they deserve respect and admiration. Daily use of affirmation cards is a positive experience for both of you. Simply hold each card so the picture is facing your baby as you read the words... for both of you.
Young children can use affirmation cards more independently once they have become familiar with them. Not only will it help their reading skills, but they will learn to love themselves as you love them. They will become as strong and precious as the diamonds they were created to be. They will carry these affirmative messages throughout their lives. You can teach them to use affirmation cards as a memory game. Challenge them to tell you what each picture represents. Each time they repeat the affirmations, they will cement those thoughts into their thinking process.
Because you deserve to be happy and successful, take the time to create your own set of affirmation cards. Index cards work well, but you can use whatever you prefer. Use the affirmations below, or make up your own. The important thing is to use them frequently. At first, the words themselves may be difficult to say or even read. That is normal, especially for those who suffer from depression or despair. As with any habit, however, it gets easier with practice. Keep practicing with your affirmation cards and you will become the person you were born to be.
